That is why we takes it upon ourselves to provide hands-on assistance in all areas, from the initial planning stages right through to when you’re finally settled in your new home.

Using all the expertise and experience in the industry, we will walk you through the first home buying process, guiding you any decision-making processes and making the entire process as stress-free as possible.

From shopping around for the best deals to actually planning and structuring your mortgage, we has all the skills and expertise to offer you expert advice in all facets of the home-buying process.

Meeting The Adviser

We will meet at the place of your convenience or we can use secure video conferencing system to understand your goals. We are able to utilize Google. Zoom, Skype.


Based on our meeting, we will complete a loan application and discuss the best lenders to approach and why.

After a pre-approval is done, you search for a property in your price bracket

Sale & Purchase Agreement

Once you find a suitable property, you put an offer on a Sale and Purchase Agreement subject to conditions.

Unconditional Contact

After these conditions are satisfied by the bank, through us, the contract is made unconditional. This may take up to10 working days

We will help you take advantage of any market movements and better deals. We keep in touch with you, your lender and relevant parties to make sure everything goes as expected.

Settlement Date

you put a settlement date on the Sale and Purchase Agreement but before the date arrives, you meet with us to seek the best possible mortgage structure so your loans are paid off faster.

We keep an eye on the market as it relates to your mortgage. We will help you take advantage of any market movements and better deals.


An easy journey for first home buyers

Pre-approved Mortgage

Gaining mortgage pre-approval serves two really important purposes:

  1. You get peace of mind, knowing that getting the house you want isn’t conditional on getting the loan.

  2. You know exactly what you can afford to spend on your first home.

Knowing these two points reduces stress, and that’s got to be a good thing.

Get access to a Mortgage with a smaller deposit

Not all of the funders require a 20% deposit to help secure your mortgage. But because Cross Country Mortgages deals with different lenders, not all are subject to the same rules placed on the major banks. Combine this with various government grants (below) and you’re well on your way to a healthy deposit anyway.

Calculate Savings

Access your KiwiSaver Savings

If you’ve been contributing to KiwiSaver for more than 3 years, you could use a substantial sum of that money towards buying your first home. The $1,000 government kickstart contribution has to stay in the scheme. Talk to us about the details with this option.

Piggy Bank

Access a Welcome Home Loan

Selected banks offer Welcome Home Loans which are underwritten by Housing New Zealand. This scheme lets the bank lend you funds against a lower deposit. Accessing this type of loan has plenty of restrictions which are explained on the Welcome Home Loans website here.


Access a KiwiSaver HomeStart grant

On top of accessing your KiwiSaver funds, if you meet certain criteria you could access up to $20,000 worth of additional grants. There’s more to consider, and other options, but the key criteria include:

You’ve contributed the minimum amount of funds to KiwiSaver for a minimum of 3 years

You’re over 18 years of age

You’re building or buying your first home

Your pre-tax household income is under $80,000 for a single applicant and under $120,000 for 2 or more people

Your combined deposit, including the grant, equals at least 10% of the house’s purchase price

You need to live in the house for at least 6 months after the settlement date.
